TEARDROP SHAPE

The best teardrop padel racket,
eight picks for the all-rounder

A teardrop padel racket has a head that is widest a little above the centre, so it adds power without the small sweet spot of a diamond. It is the all-round shape for most intermediate and advanced players. Here are the eight best teardrops in our 1,418-racket catalogue, chosen on specs.

  • 521 teardrops in the catalogue
  • 8 picks, 2025 and 2026
  • Ratings out of 10

OUR PICKS

The best teardrop
padel rackets

Every pick is a teardrop from the 2025 or 2026 season. Ratings are the catalogue editors', not ours. Prices are euro RRP; UK shops usually sell below them.

Best overall: Head Speed Pro X 2025

BEST OVERALL

Best value: Alkemia Ignis 2026

Also rated 8.8, at around €250. Power 9.1, control 9.2, a medium feel and a medium balance at 350 to 360 g. It asks for no professional swing to give its best.

VALUE

Most forgiving: Bullpadel Vertex 05 Hybrid 2026

A 9.1 sweet spot and control 9.2 from a medium-feel, medium-balance frame on 12K carbon. Power 8.0 is the honest cost of that forgiveness. Around €340.

Best for the right side: Oxdog Hyper Pro 2.0 2026

Control 9.1, sweet spot 9.1, manoeuvrability 8.7 and a medium balance at a fixed 365 g. A racket for the player who builds the point and keeps the ball in. Around €309.

RIGHT SIDE

Best for the left side: Alkemia Tenebris 2026

Power 9.5, the highest of our picks, with control still at 9.0. Medium-high balance and a medium-hard core for the player who finishes points. Around €250.

LEFT SIDE

Quickest in the hand: Nox AT10 Genius 12K Alum Xtrem Lite 2026

Manoeuvrability rated a full 10, a 9.1 sweet spot and a medium-soft core that is kind to the arm. Power 7.6 is the trade. Around €340.

LIGHT SWING

For a lighter player: Siux Valkiria Pro 2026

Sofía Araújo's racket, listed as a women's model: 340 to 360 g, soft EVA core, 24K carbon face, sweet spot 9.1. Rated 8.6. Around €349.

LIGHTER

Best budget: Head Radical Motion 2026

Weight is the manufacturer's stated range. Balance is where the mass sits: low means towards the handle, high means towards the head. Price band is the recommended retail price in euros (entry under 120, mid 120 to 200, premium 200 to 300, pro over 300); UK street prices are usually lower. Level is our reading of the shape, balance and core, not a rule.

WHAT A TEARDROP IS

What a teardrop racket is,
and who it suits

A teardrop padel racket sits between the two extremes. A round head is widest in the middle, a diamond is widest near the tip, and a teardrop is widest a little above the centre. That moves the sweet spot, the part of the face that returns the ball cleanly, a few centimetres up from the centre, and it moves the balance up with it. Our padel racket shapes guide draws all three outlines side by side.

What the catalogue says about teardrops

The catalogue lists 521 teardrop rackets, more than any other shape (474 round, 421 diamond). Their average ratings sit between the other two on every column: power 7.7, control 8.2, sweet spot 8.1, manoeuvrability 8.1. Round rackets average 6.8 for power and 8.2 for sweet spot; diamonds 8.6 and 7.8. The teardrop does not win a column. It gives up the least in each one, and for a player who attacks and defends in the same rally that is the result you want.

Balance tells the same story. Of the teardrops with a listed balance, 58% are medium and a third are medium-high; only a handful are low or high. Feel is spread wide: 203 have a medium core and 184 a medium-soft one, so a soft teardrop is easy to find if your arm needs it. The median RRP is €240, between round (€200) and diamond (€259), and 176 teardrops cost €200 or less.

Who should buy a teardrop

Buy a teardrop if you have played for a season or more, you hit the centre of the face most of the time, and you want some help on the overhead without losing the ball on defence. It is the right shape for the player who swaps sides from match to match, for the tennis convert with a full swing and not yet the timing for a diamond, and for the intermediate player stepping up from a first round racket. If you are still in your first months, a round frame will forgive more: see the best padel racket for beginners. If you already take every smash and hit the ball early, look at a diamond padel racket.

Teardrop by side of the court

In a right-handed pair the left-side player finishes points and the right-side player builds them. A teardrop works on both sides, but pick the version for your job. On the left, choose a medium-high balance and a medium-hard core: the Alkemia Tenebris 2026 (power 9.5) or the Head Speed Pro X 2025 (power 9.2). On the right, choose a medium balance and the bigger sweet spot: the Oxdog Hyper Pro 2.0 2026 or the Bullpadel Vertex 05 Hybrid 2026, both with a 9.1 sweet spot.

Hybrid is usually a teardrop

Brands sell many frames as "hybrid", between diamond and round. In the catalogue almost all of them are filed as teardrops: Bullpadel's Vertex 05 Hybrid and Hack 04 Hybrid, the Nox Future Hybrid, and a long Siux range. The Hack 04 without "Hybrid" is a diamond. If you see "hybrid" on a racket, read it as a teardrop with a character of its own, then check the balance.

Three specs to check after the shape

Balance. Within the teardrop shape, balance does most of the work. Medium-high adds pace to the smash and weight to the swing; medium keeps the racket quick at the net. Core. Medium-hard and hard cores return energy to a fast swing and punish a slow one. The Head Radical Motion 2026 is a hard teardrop at €199; the Nox AT10 Genius Lite is medium-soft. Weight. Most teardrops start between 350 and 365 g, and many are quoted as a range, so ask the shop to weigh yours. A lighter player or a sore shoulder should look at the 340 to 360 g Siux Valkiria Pro 2026.

Why these eight

We filtered the catalogue to teardrops from the 2025 and 2026 seasons, sorted by overall rating, then chose one racket per job: overall, value, forgiveness, right side, left side, a light swing, a lighter player and a budget. We skipped the €390 to €450 limited editions of the Nox AT10 range; they rate 8.7, level with cheaper frames on this list. Head and Alkemia take two places each because their frames rate well for the price. The Nox brand page lists the full AT10 range. For every model line of every shape, the best padel racket guide has ten picks.

FAQ

Questions about
teardrop padel rackets

What is the best teardrop padel racket?

On the catalogue ratings, the Head Speed Pro X 2025 and the Alkemia Ignis 2026, both rated 8.8. The Head has more power and control; the Alkemia costs about €50 less and has a softer, medium feel.

Is a teardrop padel racket good for beginners?

It can be, but a round racket is usually better for a first season. Teardrops average an 8.1 sweet spot against 8.2 for round, with a higher balance. A medium-balance, medium-feel teardrop is a sensible second racket.

Teardrop or diamond: which should I buy?

Teardrop, unless you play the left side, already finish most points and hit the ball early. Diamonds average 8.6 for power against 7.7, but their sweet spot is smaller (7.8) and they are slower to move.

Is a hybrid padel racket the same as a teardrop?

Nearly always. Hybrid is a marketing word for a shape between round and diamond, and the catalogue files almost every hybrid, including the Bullpadel Vertex 05 Hybrid 2026, as a teardrop.

Which professionals use a teardrop racket?

Arturo Coello is linked to the Head Speed Pro X, Fede Chingotto to the Bullpadel Neuron 02, Juan Tello to the Vertex 05 Hybrid and Sofía Araújo to the Siux Valkiria Pro, all teardrops in the catalogue.
