OUR PICKS
Chosen on catalogue rating per euro, not on the size of the discount. Prices are euro RRP; UK street prices are usually lower, and last season's stock lower again.

TEARDROPTeardrop, hard core, 12K rough carbon face, medium-high balance, around €125. Power 8.2 and control 8.7 for an overall 8.2. The hard core wants clean contact, so it suits an improver, not a first-timer.
TEARDROPRound, SoftEVA core, Polyglass face, low balance, €79. Rated 7.1. The 2026 version lists at €90 and rates 7.0 with the same materials: the clearest case for last season's model.

Weight is the manufacturer's stated range. Balance is where the mass sits: low means towards the handle, high means towards the head. Price band is the recommended retail price in euros (entry under 120, mid 120 to 200, premium 200 to 300, pro over 300); UK street prices are usually lower. Level is our reading of the shape, balance and core, not a rule.

WHERE THE VALUE IS
We grouped the 630 rackets from the 2024 season onwards by euro RRP and averaged their catalogue ratings. Rackets up to €80 average 6.3. From €80 to €100 the average is 6.8. From €100 to €150 it jumps to 7.5, and from €150 to €200 it reaches 8.0. After that the gains shrink: €200 to €300 averages 8.4, and rackets over €300 average 8.6.
So the first €150 buys most of the quality. The next €200 buys less than one rating point, and most of that point is power and stiffness for players who already hit the ball cleanly. That is why the best cheap padel rackets sit between €100 and €150, and why the best padel racket for club players often costs less than the pro model on the shop wall.
Brands release a new version of each racket every year. Often the frame, core and face stay the same and the paint changes. The catalogue shows it. The Head Coello Team 2025 and 2026 both list at €220, both rate 8.5, and both use a Power FOAM core in a carbon frame. The Bullpadel Ionic Control 2025 and 2026 both rate 8.1 on the same Glaphite and MultiEVA build. The Bullpadel Indiga CTR 2025 lists at €79 and rates 7.1; the 2026 lists at €90 and rates 7.0.
When the new season lands, UK shops clear the old stock. That is what the clearance pages sell. The trick is to know which lines changed nothing, so you get a mid-range frame at an entry price. Check the core and face materials on both years. If they match, buy the older one. The Bullpadel, Nox and Head pages list every season of each line side by side.
Below €80 RRP, the catalogue has 32 rackets from 2024 or later. Their average sweet spot rating is 5.9, against 7.6 for rackets between €100 and €150. Every one of the 32 has a fibreglass or Polyglass face. That is not bad in itself: fibreglass flexes and forgives. The loss is elsewhere. The cores are simpler, the weight ranges wider and the sweet spot smaller, so off-centre hits die in the net.
A cheap round racket from a real brand, like the Indiga CTR, is still a fair first racket. But if you already play once a week, the step from €80 to €110 buys more than any later step. The beginner racket guide covers the first-season case, and our strict best padel racket under 100 list covers every racket below that line.
Marketplaces sell padel rackets from sellers with no brand history for well under €40. The problem is not the price. It is that there is no spec sheet: no stated weight range, no balance, no core material, no face material. You cannot compare that racket with anything, and you cannot check it against the padel rules on size and the wrist cord. Some listings are not even padel rackets: check the listing does not describe a beach tennis bat. If a listing does not state shape, weight, core and face, do not buy it. A second-hand racket from a known brand is the better cheap option.
The cheapest racket is the one you do not replace in six months. The free AI racket finder on this page matches rackets to your answers. The app version starts from a filmed match: padel video analysis scores your real technique first, so the shortlist fits the game you have, not the one you describe.
BEFORE YOU PAY
A real brand publishes all four. If a listing only says "carbon" and "professional", it is hiding the rest. No spec sheet means no way to compare.
Brands date their rackets. A clearance racket with a year you can check is a known product. A racket with no season is usually old stock or no brand at all.
Compare core and face with the current season. If they match, the discount is free quality. If the new year changed the core, read the ratings of both.
A cheap hard core, like on the Kombat Obus, is fine for clean hitters and harsh for everyone else. Elbow trouble means soft or medium-soft only.
A cheap diamond is still a diamond: small sweet spot, weight in the head. In your first season, buy round. The saving is gone if you replace it in a month.
FAQ
On catalogue rating per euro, the Nox ML10 Pro Cup 2025: round, medium-soft, around €150 RRP, rated 8.5 with a 9.0 control rating. Under €100, the Joma Tournament Soft 2025 at €100 rates 7.9.
The Bullpadel Indiga CTR 2025 at €79 RRP. It is round, soft and low in balance, rated 7.1, and often sells for less in the UK as the 2026 version replaces it.
From a real brand, yes. Rackets between €100 and €150 average a 7.5 rating against 8.4 for €200 to €300. Below €80 the average drops to 6.3, mostly because the sweet spot shrinks.
Often it is the best value there is. Many lines keep the same core and face for two seasons. The Head Coello Team 2025 and 2026 share a price, a rating and a build; only the clearance price differs.
A known brand from a named seller, yes. An unbranded racket with no stated weight, balance, core or face, no. You cannot tell what it is or compare it with anything.
Around £80 to £130 in a UK shop buys most of the quality. The euro RRPs here run higher than UK street prices, and last season's stock sells lower again.
