ROUND SHAPE

The best round padel racket,
eight picks for control

A round padel racket is widest in the middle of the head, so the sweet spot is large and central and the balance sits low. It gives the most forgiveness and the quickest hands of the three shapes, and the least power. Here are the eight best round rackets for club players, chosen on specs.

  • 474 round rackets in the catalogue
  • Largest sweet spot: 8.2 average
  • Ratings out of 10
  • €150 to €350 RRP

Weight is the manufacturer's stated range. Balance is where the mass sits: low means towards the handle, high means towards the head. Price band is the recommended retail price in euros (entry under 120, mid 120 to 200, premium 200 to 300, pro over 300); UK street prices are usually lower. Level is our reading of the shape, balance and core, not a rule.

WHAT A ROUND RACKET IS

What a round racket does,
and who it suits

A round padel racket has a head that is widest halfway up. That keeps the sweet spot, the part of the face that returns the ball cleanly, in the centre and makes it large, and it keeps the balance low, close to your hand. A low balance makes the racket feel light and quick even at the same weight as a diamond. Our padel racket shapes guide draws all three outlines side by side.

What the catalogue says about round rackets

There are 474 round rackets in our 1,418-racket catalogue. They lead two columns, sweet spot (8.2 on average) and manoeuvrability (8.2), and trail on power: 6.8, against 7.7 for teardrops and 8.6 for diamonds. Of the round rackets with a listed balance, 57% are low or low-medium and nearly all the rest medium. The catalogue labels 90% of the round rackets it tags by game as control rackets. Round is also the cheapest shape, with a median RRP of €200, and 135 round rackets cost under €150.

The average control figure, 8.1, is pulled down by those cheap fibreglass frames. Compare only rackets at €250 RRP or more and round rackets average 8.8 for control, level with diamonds, and 8.9 for sweet spot, the best of the three shapes. So a good round racket gives up power, not control.

Who should buy a round racket

More players than buy one. Round is the right shape if any of these is true. You are in your first two seasons: the best padel racket for beginners page lists seven round frames under €200. You play the right side: in a right-handed pair the right-side player builds points from the back glass and the lob, and needs the ball to go where it is aimed. You have elbow or shoulder trouble: low balance and a softer core cut the load on the arm. Or you simply miss the centre of the face more often than you would like; most club players do.

Who should look elsewhere

If you play the left side and finish most of your points with the smash, a round racket will leave some pace on the table. Try a medium-high teardrop padel racket first, or, if you already hit the ball early and clean, a diamond padel racket. If you want round and still attack, the Alkemia Terra 2026 (power 8.9) and the Star Vie Kenta Pro 2025 (power 8.1) are the strongest round frames on this list.

Round does not mean soft

A round racket is not automatically a beginner's racket. Three of our picks have a hard core: the Kenta Pro, the Oxdog Pure Pro Plus 2026 and the Babolat Counter Viper 2026. Hard cores give precise, fast ball exit to a player who swings through the ball, and feel dead to one who pushes it. If you want comfort, look at the feel: 56% of round rackets are medium-soft or soft, including the Star Vie Metheora Pro Touch 2025 and the Nox ML10 Pro Cup.

Balance inside the round shape

Balance still varies. The Babolat Counter Viper 2026 is round with a medium-high balance, so it swings heavier and adds pace; the Oxdog Pure Pro Plus 2026 is low-medium and fixed at 370 g, so it is heavy on the scale but light in the hand. Oxdog has two picks here because its Pure line holds the largest sweet spots in the catalogue. Star Vie also has two, but quotes wide weight ranges of 350 to 385 g: ask the shop to weigh the frame before you pay.

Why these eight

We filtered the catalogue to round rackets from the 2025 and 2026 seasons, sorted by overall rating, and chose one per job: overall, sweet spot, control, power, the arm, net play, value and budget. For a shortlist across every shape, see the best padel racket guide.

FAQ

Questions about
round padel rackets

What is the best round padel racket?

On the catalogue ratings, the Star Vie Kenta Pro 2025, rated 8.8 with control 9.5 and a 9.1 manoeuvrability. For the biggest sweet spot, the Oxdog Pure Pro Plus 2026 (9.7).

Are round padel rackets only for beginners?

No. Round suits beginners, but also right-side players and anyone who values control. At €250 RRP and above, round rackets average 8.8 for control and 8.9 for sweet spot, the best of the three shapes.

Do round padel rackets have less power?

Yes, on average: 6.8 against 7.7 for teardrops and 8.6 for diamonds. The low balance and central sweet spot trade pace for forgiveness. A few, such as the Alkemia Terra 2026 (power 8.9), close most of the gap.

Is a round racket better for tennis elbow?

Usually. A low balance puts less load on the arm, and 56% of round rackets have a medium-soft or soft core. Pair the shape with a softer core, such as the Star Vie Metheora Pro Touch 2025.

Which side of the court suits a round racket?

The right side, in a right-handed pair. That player builds points with returns, lobs and long rallies, where a big sweet spot and quick hands matter more than power.
